European meeting between François Hollande and Jose Manuel Barroso

The 30/11/2011

François Hollande meets Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, today in Brussels, in order to support the European project Ulcos, a consortium bringing together the main steel enterprises in the European Union, partners from energy and engineering sectors, research institutes and universities.

This program, which costs approximately 650 millions euros, and should receive 250-300 millions from the Commission, aims at reducing carbon emissions by 50 %, resulting from the current process of steel productions.

In the framework of the “Future Investments Program”, France brought 150 million euros to contribute to the financing of this project. The European Commission should make his decision by mid-2012.

The consultancy FairValue Coporate & Public Affairs points out the political and European approach developed on this issue, which will encourage the implementation of innovative projects, and promote the development of SMEs and French medium-sized businesses throughout Europe.
